YOKAÏ
24 October 2024 – 31 October 2024 24.10.2024 – 31.10.2024
Embassy of Japan in Brussels
YOKAÏ showcases Stephan Goldrajch’s textile sculptures and paintings, and his watercolour work which were a result of his residence in Japan in 2023. It marks the concurrent exhibition to Devenir YOKAÏ, currently on view at Baronian gallery. In YOKAÏ, which is curated by Albert Baronian, the same themes are touched as those in the exhibition at the gallery, and so the Embassy expo is an essential complement to the exhibition at Baronian.
Stephan Goldrajch’s art is inspired by ancestral traditions, human interactions, and social cohesion. Using crochet and various threads, Goldrajch creates vibrant, textured compositions, often incorporating wool and cotton. His work, rich in fantasy, revisits childhood memories and tales through intricate, meditative processes. He collaborates with photographer Myriam Rispens and works across multiple disciplines, including watercolor painting, weaving, and embroidery, focusing on creating connections between people and cultures.
