L'image au temps du négatif / positif
29 April 2021 – 6 June 2021 29.04.2021 – 06.06.2021
Rue Isidore Verheyden 2
Wang Du (b. 1956 in Wuhan, China) is exhibited for the fifth times in Brussels in a solo show at Baronian Xippas with a new series of four resin sculptures.
For this solo show, Wang Du drew inspiration from the novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez and his masterpiece 100 Years of Solitude, which was a pioneering work of magic realism. Covid-19 has left the world ravaged and in the grip of ambivalence. Anticipation and despair, freedom and lockdown, romance and distance, and now vaccines and viral mutations. The uncertain outcome of this positive/negative roller-coaster is the current factor defining the variables in our lives. L’image au temps du négatif/positif highlights the dualistic magic realism that reigns in our world today.
Discover this exhibition at the occasion of Art Brussels Week : a week of contemporary art through a fascinating online and offline programme of exhibitions, from 3 to 6 June 2021 in Brussels.
